Fakenham RFC

71 - 7

(HT 0-0)

Lakenham Union RFC

Norwich Union 1st XV suffered a heavy defeat in their re-arranged game with Fakenham, the hosts coming out of the traps at full speed, scoring in the first few minutes and consistently building the score throughout the game as they outplayed in every aspect of the game. Union struggled to get out of first gear, with a series of errors being ruthlessly punished by the home team. In addition, Union’s set-piece, normally a conveyor belt for good possession was nullified by a well drilled Fakenham pack.

However, It’s in the backs that the hosts really excelled, their right-wing Murray Tindall running amok particularly in the opening stages and was well supported by a sharp and backline.

There was one solitary score from Union, which was through Jon Spicker, who grabbed the ball from Simon Pitcher as he charged into heavy traffic following a catch and drive which was halted close to the Fakenham line finding the gap made by Pitcher skipping through to score, Lloyd Davis added the extras.

Union’s next game is up next week and away to Colchester 3s in their longest away trip of the season.
